From Chanel, with love
Unique in the fashion sphere, Chanel’s annual Maison d’Art show celebrates the weight of tradition and specialist craftsmanship and, if its past incarnations are anything to go by, promises to be a fashion moment NOT to be missed.

The eagerly-anticipated Russian flavour which Chanel will present to all the fashion houses, will now be known as the Paris-Moscou collection and will not be shown in Moscow but Paris, at the city’s Ranelagh Theatre. Karl Lagerfeld will be putting his own stamp on Chanel’s love affair with Russia with the one-off collection that will be presented to the world on December 3rd.

The nitty-gritty
We just spent an hour and half virtually walking around the boutiques of Net-A-Porter. They have made it even easier to shop its collections by opening the doors to an all-new set of virtual “boutiques”.
The 200 designers stocked on the site have been sifted and edited into brand categories for easy access; so, if you’re an MCQ, Helmut Lang or APC fan, chances are you’ll find what you’re looking for in Cutting Edge – which offers “cool, hip downtown clothing attitude for the in-crowd” – or, if something a little more polished from the likes of Anna Sui or Diane Von Furstenberg is more your style, be sure to pay a visit to the Salon.
Browse to your heart’s content at www.netaporter.com/boutiques.

Rule of Law
Fascinatingly, while one Law sibling dates beautiful women, the other paints them. Natasha Law (Jude Law’s elder sister), is best known for her inky sexy line drawings, which lie on the boundaries between art and fashion. Her latest project with in store installation- Matches, features high gloss paintings on aluminium, vinyl-cut prints and specially printed scarves.
Her work famously features strong and evident erotic undertones, normally symbolized by effortless females in high heels and knickers. She also interpreted an abstract detail from her renowned nude series to create a limited edition print worked into silk scarves and prints starting £200 a piece.

The Changeling
We have our eyes on costume designer Deborah Hopper, who left no stone unturned in her search for the perfect vintage wardrobe for Angelina Jolie(who stars in Prohibition era film The Changeling). As seen on the catwalks of Alberta Ferretti and Marc Jacobs, the Twenties are certainly having their moment in the spotlight and this film is perfect style inspiration.

Somewhere over the rainbow
We have found the perfect shoe- just like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow-that will get you through this season and next. This colourful, strappy number by Jimmy Choo will most definitely want to be seen at cold nights in BoomBox as well as stand you in good stead for spring/summer 2009’s pending love of colour.

MoDOLLicious
Kate Moss, Agyness Deyn and Claudia Schiffer may adorn the pages of Russian Vogue, but to celebrate the magazines 10th anniversary, they decided to do something a little more special. Or tangible if you wish.
Some of fashion’s biggest names- Miuccia Prada, Giles Deacon, Emporio Armani-were asked to design a dress for a Matrioshka (a traditional Russian doll) that will be auctioned for charity. Each designers’ sketches were realised by Russian craftsmen, who hand-painted the 50 centimetre dolls. Here are some of our personal favorites:
“Installation, sculpture, objet d’art – you can call it however you wish.” said Aliona Doletskaya, the editor of Russian Vogue.

Dali lives on
To commemorate the 20th anniversary of Salvador Dali’s death, Julien Macdonald, Graeme Black, Steve J and Yoni P, Bora Aksu and Manish Arora are among the 12 designers who have added a surreal touch to a series of creations which will be auctioned on November 26 in aid of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.
Each designer has been inspired by one of the legendary artist’s various works. Upcoming Steve J and Yoni P, for example, referenced Dali’s Butterfly Landscape, and translated the painting’s molecular structures and butterflies into manipulated pleats of silk. It will be unveiled on the 1st of December at The Dali Universe, the permanent Salvador Dali exhibition in London’s Southbank.

Kate in wonderland
“Light hearted and delicate. Yes just like a filmed fragment of a Marilyn sitting.” were one of the many comments this video has received. Kate Moss, is dressed in silk-tulle Christian Dior Haute Couture, as she brings the December issue of Vogue to life. Mesmerizing or tawdry? We’ll let you be the judge of that.

Chopshop
While most designers would choose to sue other knock-off rivals, Alexander McQueen is tackling the issue with more wit. Merely a tongue-in-cheek dig at the high street’s fascination for using McQueen’s collections as “inspiration”.
Press were given invitations yesterday’s to McQ press day, inscribed with the words “CHOPSHOP: Higher Street Fashion” in familiar font that hinted at a collaboration between McQ and Topshop. But alas, its quite the contrary.
